This week's poll was suggested by our member AUOdere. If a scanlation group is picking up a series that is already completed in the original language and it has a lot of extra content sprinkled throughout the series, should they prioritize the main story first or keep everything chronological? 662160

You can submit poll ideas here: https://mangaupdates.telechargertorrent.org/topic/kilkdnn/site-manga-poll-suggestions

Previous Poll Results:

Question: How old is your current smartphone?

Choices:

  • I don't use a smartphone - votes: 160 (5.4%)
  • Less than 6 months - votes: 184 (6.2%)
  • Between 6 months to a year - votes: 228 (7.7%)
  • 1-2 years - votes: 754 (25.6%)
  • 3 years - votes: 521 (17.7%)
  • 4 years - votes: 357 (12.1%)
  • 5 years - votes: 281 (9.5%)
  • 6 years - votes: 142 (4.8%)
  • Older than 6 years - votes: 322 (10.9%)

There were 2949 total votes. The poll ended: May 31, 2025

Dang, 11% of you use a smartphone that's older than 6 years? I guess you don't use apps

Regarding volume extras, IMO that's when reading official volume releases yields a better experience than scanslations: you get to read the extra punchline right after the chapter it refers to, as opposed to a .5 release many months after.

Then when you try to go back and re-read the original chapter it may well have been pulled offline, like with simulpubs or the recent Mangadex mass expunge...

Translate in order of release, assuming we're talking about those volume extras like omake and author's notes and not spin-off stories published on the side. They get too out of context if translated later.

And, as a reader, I'd prefer waiting a bit longer to get the chapter plus the extra instead of having the extra coming separately unless the extra is practically a small chapter.

Sorry if I don't get the question, but "completed" should mean all tanks have released, so all the side content that get pulled together as a .5 when working with magazine raws should be available to release with the chapter, so there shouldn't be a .5 at all, or just be the afterword/omakes?

Spin-offs I consider a different manga, so I wouldn't blame the scanlator however they choose to do it.

Social media stuff, no idea since I don't have any.

Order of release for sure... So many times those side stories are referenced in main story in some way (even if only as easter egg)

I'm probably not circling back for the side stories after the series is over. If they aren't translated along the way I'll just never see them.

Uh... the poll is a bit confusing to me. "Order of release" doesn't work so well with volume extras, because the volumes are released much later than the chapters they contain.

I prefer skipping extras altogether for 99% of series (omake can be cute but I don't read them unless the first few convinced me that this author is REALLY good at them; the only other volume extras I ever consume are the SBS for One Piece), so I picked the latter out of selfishness

But rather than "in order of release", I feel like it should say "in volume order"

If it's completed in the original language that means that complete volumes are out too right ? Just follow the order of the volumes.
