It's pure misery porn, the only happy parts in the manga are a setup for the soul crushing event that will succeed it.

this is drivel. white knight fantasy, curb your incelthusiasm. like the popups you see on the sides of website that promise your life will be fixed by one fix. it's Conan or Elrich but now you're a modern loser worker. can't even get through the pity party without horrid fatphobic misogyny.

Dark and depressing

Just a difficult story to read. Practically every character is not just flawed but deeply flawed.........can't really like the MC, frankly can't like anyone in the entire manga. I mean there is no "silver lining" of any sort anywhere to be found in this story, it's just misfortune after misfortune. A shame but just not a lot of fun to read.

But in all fairness, I suppose it might have been (at least to some degree) been meant to be taken satirically.....I mean, oh my goodness, that much bad stuff happening to a character (and I mean even his "happily ever after" was a true kick in the nuts), well, yeah, just kinda hard to take.

Literally thinks with his dick, and because of that, he loses everyjting in his life that made him whole

I hate chapter 63, the fucker appears and all of a sudden he is unable to fight mc because of his fucking condition, if i was mc, i would start railing in the guy right then and there, fuck that dude, fuck him for playing with the feelings of my friends, fuck him for not be responsible for his actions. Sure, god given u punishment by making your face bloated. But that is not enough, you still have you fucking job, you still earn your money, you still have a life no matter how you look at it. Whereas the people he has interacted with are forced to leave town and never to return for their own mental health. Fuck that guy

Chapter 65 and 66 are nice

Okay so from what i read so far, and the other comments, gomting has it pretty accurate. This manga is somewhat of a dumpster fire, but you cannot help but just read it.

This manga was so bad, there is barely any boxing in this manga, and the mc is such a spineless twat who doesnt give any effort for explaining the situations that he gets in. This manga is best to be skipped

I'm not sure how to review this. The art is amazing, but the characters in it are hard to take seriously... You think Tanishi would have some redeeming points but he continues to mess up time and time again. He's short sighted, driven by his emotions, selfish, jealous, unhappy, and listless, yet somehow still draws people to him. But his indecision and poor choices push people away, sometimes even ruining the lives of others.

It's really hard to sympathize with him. I can't imagine someone in real life like that. That said... I'm sure they exist. This manga feels like a character study of a terrible person. Something akin to Walter White from Breaking Bad, who had the opportunity to make good choices but opted not to. Or perhaps about a person trying to imitate a manga shonen character... except it never working out in real life. I want to root for him but he keeps digging himself into worse situations than before. It makes me think of the phrase, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Boys on the Run is both fun and terrible to read at the same time. I can't help but cringe, but I also can't turn away. Hanazawa Kengo has made something really remarkable, in the way a trainwreck or a natural disaster is a hard scene to pry your eyes away from. I'm a little unsatisfied with the ending, but it does end on a small positive note.

This is my first time posting/talking about a manga on the internet, I read the first 31 chapters of this manga and skipped through the rest until chapter 53. Like many people who wrote about how she was a whore and how she treated Tanishi was bad, I was really upset for what happened to him and in rage with her (almost cried myself to sleep that night)
But the next day after some serious thinking I realised Tanishi was to blame for the events that occurred, all she wanted was some one to be with and stand by her side, yes she dated Ass hole Aoyoma and slept with him but if Tanishi had simply apologised to her for what happened with the whore Shiho that wouldn't have happened, and I believe she slept with the rest of ass-hole Aoyoma's ass hole co-workers was because she was still trying to find some one and get over Tanishi and ass hole Aoyoma which was a bad deceison for her.
When Tanishi found out she was pregnant and she had the abortion he shouldve been by her side trying to help her to get over ass hole Aoyoma and trying to get her to be his girlfriend instead of being a idiot and trying to fight.(he could've just punched him one day while he is out working and they run into each other)
I think she made the right decision to move back home cause she realised what was gong to become of her life if she stayed in the city and that was the last time Tanishi could've got her, I don't think she was that much of a whore she just wanted to have oral sex with him so he could stay with her, she had a devastated look on her face when he said no. In the end she was still looking for some one. (also out of everybody ass hole Aoyoma was probably the one that seemed like he would stay by her side that's why she probably asked about him)
Women are very complicated to understand, I don't know if what i said was relevant but I just wanted people to see her side of it may not have been correct but its just how I feel about it.

P.s. Does anyone know if she appears back in the manga if so could you tell me. again this is my first post

Hype up then dissopointed

This manga had more ups and down than an effing rollercoaster, it starts of interesting, seeminly typical weak guy pushed around, down on his luck, will eventually discover boxing and all that jazz you see. But then it does a 180 and its like im reading a pure slice of life manga.

It annoyed me a little that boxing didnt come in to till half way (especially when in the description is about him becoming a boxer) I honestly felt like the author kept getting all this differnt ideas that he would start working on, which would build up your interest get you excited for what happens next, only for the author to change his mind and leave you feeling dissopointed. It honestly feels like this manga has no idea what it wants to be. When it gets good it gets really good and fun to read but its always short lived

A bit of a mess

This is where the arguably interesting author started to show writing chops but the work is very uneven as the exceptionally pathetic cast becomes the opposite of believable over time. As if their only joy in life is to keep making each other miserable and the transition from the first to the second half feels forced. The series is undeniably a fetish piece on top and the last volume will decide if the read was worth it or not. His later Tokkaten (7,5/10).
Update: The ending of the 2nd arc is complete trash, so the manga ultimately went nowhere.. twice. That´s why i just can´t recommend it in the end. The author thankfully got better later.

As a guy who was always timid, I totally identify with the MC, and so I follow the story with a combination of chagrin and uneasy hope on his behalf. It's really the ultimate "the worm turns" story, with the MC being the lowest-down creature you can imagine at the start. Given what he is at the beginning, I've never been troubled that he's taking so long to change. You would expect his rise to Manhood to take years. Plus all the two greatest good things I look for in manga are here: realistic behavior and talk such as actual humans might do and say, AND great, careful drawing.

It's back! (January 2018) At least it is where I read it. This is the SECOND case in the new year where I found one of my long-beloved but quiescent manga being scanlated again in the new year!

Oh the humour... It's sad, it's painful, it's awkward... That is if you have some God damned issues, maaaan/wooo-maaaan!
Anyway, funny as hell story about a guy going through some serious stuff. Most of the 'stuff' could have been avoided if he had some damn balls, but I guess this story is about him growing a pair... But who am I to judge? 😀

Best red while drinking condensed milk and crying while mumbling to yourself that you are fat.
